Desi's Point of View

...

THE MEETING

Our story began many years ago as little kids. Dominic and I were enrolled at the same elementary school during 1st grade. God works in miraculous ways because I was only able to attend, as my mom was the PE coach in the school district.

Like any solid love story -once upon a time- Dom chased me around any chance he had. Showing off on playground monkey bars, playing soccer, or playing kickball hoping to be on the same team as me. I thought he was sweet -of course- and I knew he had an innocent crush on me, but I thought eww he is a friend and has cooties.

We both went to the school for 1st and 2nd grade along with his older sister Bella and younger brother Nicolai. My mom ran an after school program so she and I got to know all of them a little.

...

GROWING UP

Both Dom and I moved to another school district 3rd grade through 8th grade. Our story went a little quiet here but not for too long. We would sight each other around town at restaurants with our families, or at the park, and he always made it a point to say hi, while I played shy and my mom would tell me stop that.

As we entered middle school, athletic events increased the frequency we would see each other at cross country, track meets, and football games.

Every time I would see Dominic he would get a little bit more handsome.

SWEETHEARTS

Enter- Desi and Dom, teenagers restarting at an all freshman high school center. With all the exciting milestones ahead I was excited to start school and meet all the new people from the other schools. I worked incredibly hard playing school volleyball followed by the soccer season. I was what most people would call a social butterfly.

I walked the halls and lunch room confident in my teenage self and the first time I saw Dom I went crazy over him. Queue the giggles. I turned to my friend contemplating "how he was so fine! How would I get him to talk to me."

December of 2019 we saw each other at a Christmas tree lighting in town. Promptly after Dominic was walking me to every class and we were together everyday. We were best friends.

AKWARD

Fast forward 6 months and I get the text. You know, the "its not you its me" text and my whole world shattered. Covid lockdown was still enforced and I was heart broken. Over that time I started picking up new hobbies and really got to know Jesus more.

THE REDEEMING

After years of no contact Dom added me on snap chat. I laughed out loud! I decided why not do it for the plot and add him back? A few weeks go by, and unexpectedly I get a phone call... I answered! Dom and I finished our small talk and then he surprised me, he apologized for his actions that hurt me. We spoke for hours about how Jesus has shaped our futures and worked in our pasts. Dom ended the hours long phone call with a quick "I'll call you later." Which he did! Sometimes we called multiple times a week and occasionally we would have a break in between.

After 6 months of talking on the phone Dom calls to tell me he is flying from Michigan to Texas. He decides with the help of his mom to hop on a flight directly to College Station, he made me feel the most special girl in the world. He asks me to be his girlfriend during his trip and we dated long distance for many many months. How our phones did not burn up is a mystery. We flew back and forth as often as possible.

August 1st, 2025 Dom proposed to me at a park in Dallas which was perfect. God works in miraculous ways and we are so thankful for our journey. I am beyond excited to get marry my best friend and I pray that our relationship would represent a picture of God's grace and goodness. God is working all things out for the good of those whom love him.

DOMINIC'S PERSPECTIVE

Meeting My Little Faith

I was Just six years old when I saw Desi with her cute little dirty blond hair, sitting at the cafeteria benches eating her happy meal that her mom had so graciously provided for her after school. Immediately as I started my first couple of weeks at school I noticed that I had grown very fond of Desi, and we continued to grow up, learn, become more comprehensive in our learning. We would play during recess together. We played kick ball together and just has so much fun going to school together. It was truly a special time in my life where I didn't have to be concerned about anything, not just because I was only 6 years old, but because i was happy, provided for, i was loved, i had meals on the table, close on my back, a roof over my head and family was doing good overall.

The Move

After almost two school years went by my folks put me in a different school and that's where Desi and I parted ways. we both went on to go to different schools and growing up having no idea we were living in the same town as each other, at least that's how i saw it from my perspective. The truth is we would occasionally see each other around town, whether that was senior locos Mexican restaurant, the groceries stores in town, tracks meets or any other place in town really. I would see Desi around town, but i really didn't know her.

Dom and Desi

Enter, I encountered Desi ironically in the cafeteria during lunch freshmen year. I remember seeing Desi all shy and
